The MCF5270 ColdFire Integrated Microprocessor combines high integration with low cost on the popular Version 2 ColdFire core, providing 96 (Dhrystone 2.1) MIPS at 100MHz. Offered in low-power, high-performance 0.13 µ technology, the MCF5270 features a 10/100 Fast Ethernet Controller, a 32x32 enhanced Multiply and Accumulate, and all of the common connectivity interfaces, including three UARTs, I2C, and a QSPI.

The impressive combination of connection and peripheral selection positions the MCF5270 into cost-sensitive, power-conscious applications requiring significant control processing for file management, connectivity, data buffering, user interface, and signal processing. MCF5270 target applications include Remote Monitoring, Voice-Over IP Phone, Medical Instrumentation, Gaming Equipment, Ethernet Switches, Server Appliance, Point-of-Sale Printers, and Home Routers.

The MCF5270 is pin-to-pin compatible with the MCF5271 (in like packages). The MCF5271 adds hardware encryption and industrial temperature capabilities.
